Get Organized!
I've found the
fastest way to get my layouts done in the little time I have... I sketch all of
my
layout ideas in a sketchbook that I take with me everywhere! Whenever I'm
confronted with some downtime, I take it out and sketch a few layouts.
I've done this at the DMV, the dentist, and at my son's music class while I'm
waiting.
Here is my
organization process in a Word document. I hope it is helpful to you!
Getting Organized to Crop
BONUS for this
method: When I go to the LSS to crop, I only need to take with me what
I'll need for the number of layouts I think I might do that night!

Get a Handwriting
Font
I want my
handwriting in my albums. But I also love doing my journaling on the
computer. Go to Fontgod.com and you can get your handwriting in a font!
Here's a sample of both my font and my mother's font (it looks a tad fuzzy on the screen, but it prints crystal
clear):

I can personally vouch for
fontgod.com! Turnaround is very fast, usually
3 days, customer service is the best I've had in years, and the font is perfect!
If you're a scrapbooker, there's no better way to journal than in your own
hand and now you can do it on the computer!

Cropping
Trash
Hate having all
those little pieces of paper and photos laying around while you're cropping and
it's just a hassle to have a paper bag there? I use empty tissue
boxes. The clear plastic around the opening helps keep everything in there
and I don't have to worry about the cats getting into it, like I do with a paper
bag. I've also used the big creamer containers I get from Costco. I
cut a big slot in the red plastic lid and I can empty it when it gets full.

Removing
Photos from Magnetic Albums
We've
all used magnetic albums in the past... those albums with the clear plastic
cover sheets and adhesive pages. It's best to get your photos out of those
and into acid-free, lignin-free albums. But how to get those photos out of
those old magnetic albums? Try waxed extra-fine dental floss! Wrap
it around your fingers like you're going to floss, then ease it under a corner
of the photo and slowly saw back and forth, easing it under the photo.

Keep Your Paper Scraps
Keep
every shape of paper you cut! You never know when you might want to do a
funky page with lots of different shapes. Or if you just want an oval
frame, keep the oval you cut out of the middle for a mat or page embellishment.
Here's what you can do to keep them:
Get a clip ring (the kind that have teeth on one side and a hinge on the other
side) and some 3x3 or 3x5 ziplock bag from any craft or paper store. Punch a
holes in one corner of the baggie, put a reinforcement on the circle, and put
all the baggies on the clip ring. In each baggie, sort your scraps, diecuts,
squares, circles, etc., by size, shape, color, whatever. Now that I have the
Sizzix, I can cutting smaller shapes with my star or heart die and save them in
the baggies. (Thanks to my friend Kristen for this idea!)

you know of any other scrapbooking tips and tricks, just
drop
